Amsterdam, Netherlands – Part 2

Jon and I were lucky enough to have a few extra days in Amsterdam after visiting the many tour attractions with my sister. Having this extra time allowed us to visit the nearby city The Hague and treat ourselves to a fancy seafood dinner.

Prague, Czech Republic

Prague is a city that we’ve heard wonderful things about for years and were excited to visit. It may not be as cheap and untouched as it was 10 years ago when American tourists started to visit by the thousands, but the city is still charming with its old world beauty and authentic cuisine.

Takayama, Japan (高山市)

Often while traveling we discover that we are a day too early or too late for a special event in a given city. By luck, our visit to Takayama coincided with the two-day Spring Festival, which is considered one of the most beautiful festivals in Japan.

Yokosuka, Japan (横須賀市)

Yokosuka is best known throughout Japan for having a large American Naval Base. For us, Yokosuka was a place to visit our friends for a wonderful introduction to Japan, where we would be spending the next three weeks.

Phuket, Thailand

Phuket used to be the go to island off of the coast of Thailand. In recent years, some parts gained a reputation for being crowded and sleazy. Still, Phuket is one of the largest islands and a great transportation hub for the rest of the Andaman Sea, so we spent two nights on the island.…

Kentucky Bourbon Trail

Most people would probably tell you Kentucky is best known for its Bourbon and Kentucky is awfully proud of this. The Bourbon Trail is composed of 9 distilleries, mostly located between…

Great Smoky Mountains National Park, NC

Although the weather didn’t cooperate, we made the best of our time in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The tree covered mountains felt like the closed to our home terrain since starting our journey. Days  123 – 124 December 3 – December 4, 2014 Mileage 15880 – 16060 We arrived to the south of…

Houston, TX

For us, the highlight of Houston was Jon’s homecoming to the Johnson Space Center, where he spent a spring and two summers as a co-op during college. It was great to tour the space center and see all of the changes as well as his old friends who still work there. Day 106 – 109 November 16 –…
